Project Name
An Art Tasting Audio Tour
Project Description
At the Getty Museum we regularly create thematic audio tours to guide and offer special insights to visitors to our temporary exhibitions, and we wanted to create a similar experience with our permanent collection. The Art Tasting audio tour brings a variety of works of art to life with food and wine history. Hosted by the lively and entertaining food historian Linda Civitello, the Art Tasting audio guide also serves as a highlights tour to give visitors the opportunity to savor a sampling of objects in one pavilion on the Getty Center campus. Objects are presented in a broad cultural context through a topic relevant to everyone. Through engaging story-telling, visitors explore and get a taste of the expensive and the exotic, from the perceived benefits of chocolate in ancient Mexico to the fanciful depiction of pineapples trees in seventeenth-century China. The tour is self-guided and can be accessed in any order. It is accompanied by a printed guide with a list of the works of art featured and a map.
